The B16a still is one of HONDA's most efficient motors of its size, and it is very tuneable!

Initial upgrades (JDMstg1)  are exhaust & induction upgrades. We have found that a 63mm 2 box system with 4:1 manifold works best in regards to making power & torque.On the induction side, we prefer to use plastic or carbon induction pieces such as the "whalepenis", as these materials do not transfer underbonnet heat into the incoming air collumn, and are not restrictive at all. These upgrades need to be in place for any succesive modifications.

JDMStg 2 ...  is a management upgrade. We prefer a standalone system like DICKTATOR.

This EMS is designed to work with the OE HONDA distributor(rising trigger ignitor), and maintains the OE idling  and coldstart features.It has adjustable rpm limiter,vtec actuation & even launch control (optional).The EMS is suited to ANY future upgrades, even turbo charging.

Another option is piggyback systems. This type of EMS retains the OE ECU, and intercepts the map & ignition signals in order to "modify" them before they reach the engine. This type of EMS usually retains the OE rpm limiter & vtec actuation point,but this can be altered by means of "addons".

JDMStg 3 ... We start with engine internals ie: cam swaps, compression upgrades etc.

3.1 ...SKUNK2 STG1...(264/259 deg @50")... The stg1's are a good initial & cost effective upgrade, as they do NOT require any valvetrain modfications! Typical increases are around 7-10kw with JDMstg's 1 & 2 in place.

3.2...SKUNK 2 STG2 ...(275/270 deg @50")... The stg2's require SKUNK2 tuner series valve spring & retainer upgrade. A compression upgrade is also neccesary in the region of 11:1. Typical gains are around 10-17kw with JDMstg's 1 & 2 in place.

Compression upgrades are NOT in the form of "skimming the head"! We choose replacement pistons by WISECO , connecting rods by EAGLE, and bearings by ACL.
